When you make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal to have a dispute resolved, they’ll contact you and may offer mediation or the ‘FastTrack Resolution’ service as a way for you and the landlord to try and resolve the problem yourselves. These options are generally faster and simpler than going to a Tribunal hearing.
However, you *can* refuse to go to mediation or use the FastTrack Resolution service. If you want to go straight to a Tribunal hearing, discuss this with the Tribunal staff.
